Chapter 182:My Man and My Man Alone
Chapter 182:My Man and My Man Alone
Adrian let out a soft chuckle, tilting his head. "I said I’m waiting for my husband to—"
Matteo didn’t even let him finish the sentence.
He lunged forward, scrambling onto the mattress and throwing his body over Adrian, burying his face in his neck as he wrapped his arms securely around his waist.
The sudden movement sent a few pieces of snacks flying, and Adrian shrieked with laughter as Matteo’s heavy weight pinned him into the mattress.
"Say it again," Matteo demanded against his skin, his voice muffled but filled with a raw excitement. "Rian, say it again."
"No!" Adrian laughed loudly, twisting beneath him as he tried to push Matteo’s broad shoulders away. "Leave me alone, Matteo! Go away!"
"Not until you say it again," Matteo growled playfully.
Without giving him a chance to escape, Matteo brought his hands down to Adrian’s waist, his fingers finding the most sensitive spots and ruthlessly tickling him.
Adrian dissolved into a fit of breathless, unbridled giggles, his legs kicking under the duvet as he desperately tried to squirm out of Matteo’s iron grip.
"Stop! Baby, please, stop! I can’t breathe!" Adrian gasped out, his face completely flushed with pure happiness as he stubbornly clamped his mouth shut, refusing to give in to the demand.
Matteo kept at it, his deep laughter vibrating against Adrian’s chest, entirely captivated by the beautiful sound of his partner’s laughter filling the quiet bedroom.
After a few more minutes of playful wrestling, with Adrian still stubbornly refusing to give in and repeat the word, Matteo finally relented.
He stopped tickling him and collapsed face-down against Adrian’s chest, letting out a heavy, breathless chuckle as they both tried to catch their breath.
As their laughter gradually faded, a comfortable silence settled over the room, broken only by the soft, eerie sounds drifting from the television in the background.
Matteo rolled over slightly, resting his head next to Adrian’s on the pillow, and glanced up at the screen. "Out of all the movies you could’ve chosen, why a horror movie, Rian?"
Adrian smiled, popping another snack into his mouth. "Because I don’t want to be afraid of anything anymore, besides, I actually enjoy watching them."
Matteo chuckled, wrapping an arm around Adrian’s waist to pull him closer. "You enjoy horror movies? Babe, you should be watching something sweet and romantic, not a horror movie."
"No," Adrian shot back playfully, sticking his tongue out. "This is exactly what I’m going to watch."
Matteo’s smile widened, his eyes full of adoration. "Alright, fine. Let me join you then."
He pulled the duvet over both of them, adjusting Adrian so his head was resting comfortably in the crook of his shoulder.
With Matteo’s strong arms holding him secure, they both turned their attention back to the screen, watching the rest of the movie together in the dim light until their eyes finally grew heavy, and they drifted off into a deep, peaceful sleep.
In the dead of midnight, the unmistakable crack of gunfire suddenly rang out across the estate, shattering the night’s silence.
Matteo’s eyes snapped open.
He bolted upright in an instant, his lethal instincts taking over before he was even fully awake.
The gunfire was loud enough to jolt Adrian awake as well. Startled and disoriented, he shot up in bed, his heart racing as fear swept through him.
Matteo was on his feet in an instant.
Before any of his guards could even knock on the heavy oak door to brief him, he was already dressed and moving. Turning sharply toward the bed, he pointed a strict finger at Adrian.
"Do not leave this room, Rian," he ordered. "Do not go anywhere, and absolutely do not come downstairs."
Adrian nodded quickly and climbed out of bed.
"At least let me walk you to the door," he said.
Before Matteo could respond, a sharp knock echoed through the room.
"Boss—"
The guard barely managed to get the word out before Matteo yanked the door open.
A heavily armed guard stood outside, his expression tense.
Adrian followed a few steps behind and stopped at the doorway.
Matteo remained standing in front of him, partially blocking the entrance as he turned back to Adrian.
"Stay here," he said firmly, his eyes locking onto Adrian’s. "I’m serious, baby. Don’t leave this room until I come back."
Before Matteo could turn and leave, movement erupted throughout the grand hallway.
The gunfire had awakened the entire floor.
Mark and Charles had already rushed out of their rooms, both fully alert. Farther down the hall, Kevin had also stumbled out of his guest room, his face pale with confusion as he tried to make sense of what was happening.
The three men instinctively headed toward the master suite, arriving just as Matteo stepped into the hallway.
Mark reached him first, his face tight with concern. "Teo," he asked, "what the hell is going on?"
"I don’t know yet," Matteo said, his voice a low, commanding growl. "Stay up here on this floor and do not come downstairs, no matter what happens. Understood?"
From the open doorway, Adrian watched Matteo intently, the sheer worry and fear written all over his face. Matteo caught his gaze, his harsh expression softening for a split second. He looked back at Adrian and gave a reassuring nod. "I will be fine, baby. Just wait for me right there, okay?"
Adrian swallowed hard and nodded. "Okay, baby."
Even in the middle of a literal war zone, Matteo paused, caught Adrian’s eye, and blew him a soft, lingering kiss before turning toward the stairs.
A small smile appeared on Adrian’s face despite his anxiety.
The situation was clearly dangerous, but Matteo still managed to act like a devoted boyfriend. Somehow, even in the middle of a crisis, he never forgot to make Adrian feel loved.
Matteo sprinted down the stairs, leaving Adrian, Mark, Charles, and Kevin upstairs under the protection of a few elite, heavily armed bodyguards.
But within minutes, the firefight outside grew louder. The echoing rounds of automatic weapons shook the very foundation of the estate, making the walls vibrate. Upstairs, the tension was suffocating, and everyone was visibly shaking from the noise.
The lead bodyguard stepped forward, keeping his weapon raised toward the stairwell. "Sir, everyone needs to get back inside their bedrooms immediately. No one dares step past this perimeter. Please, return to your rooms."
"Alright," Adrian said smoothly.
Mark and Charles were already turning around to head back to their wing when Kevin suddenly spoke up, his voice trembling as he looked directly at Adrian. "God... I can’t stay in my room on my own right now. Adrian, can I please go inside with you? Just to stay with you until Matteo gets back?"
The request made Mark freeze. He snapped his head around, staring at Kevin in utter disbelief.
Adrian stopped dead in his tracks. A cold, dangerous look washed over his face as he slowly turned to face Kevin. "You want to do what?" Adrian asked, his voice dropping into a lethal tone. "Can you please repeat yourself?"
Kevin blinked, looking entirely oblivious to the line he had just crossed. "I’m just scared. I really don’t mind staying in your room until Matteo comes back."
Adrian’s eyes narrowed into slits, completely ready to tear the man to shreds right then and there.
Catching the pure, unadulterated venom on Adrian’s face, Mark knew he had to step in before a second war started inside the house. Mark quickly walked over, placing himself firmly between them.
"Don’t worry about it, Kevin," Mark said sharply, his tone leaving no room for negotiation. "You can stay right out here with the security detail until Teo gets back. You will be perfectly safe with them."
Adrian let out a dark, mocking chuckle, staring right past Mark to lock eyes with Kevin. "You actually want to come in and stay in the bedroom I share with my boyfriend?" Adrian shook his head, his voice dripping with utter disgust. "Kevin, you really need to learn how to speak carefully, especially in the middle of chaos. Because if you don’t, you might end up losing your life before you ever make it back home."
Adrian took a step closer, making sure every word sank deep into Kevin’s mind. "And let me make one thing very clear," he said coldly. "You can get close to anyone else in this house if you want. But stay far away from me."
His eyes narrowed. "I only stay close to my man, and my man alone. I have no interest in getting close to anyone else, especially people who think they can walk in here and put themselves on the same level as me."
Without waiting for Kevin to respond, Adrian turned on his heel, opened the bedroom door, and stepped inside, slamming it firmly shut behind him.
Safely back inside the room, Adrian paced across the floor, his hands clenched into tight fists as anger simmered beneath his skin.
This Kevin guy doesn’t even have the brains to realize how much I can’t stand him, Adrian thought bitterly, his jaw tightening.
He keeps pushing his luck.
A frustrated breath escaped him.
Now I fucking hate him even more.
Out in the hallway, Mark gave Kevin one last warning look before he and Charles walked back to their own room, locking the door behind them.
Left entirely alone with the stone-faced bodyguards, Kevin stood frozen...
