Chapter 1746 - 1394: Joy (Part 2)
"No wonder the technology is so strong; the Divine Race’s ruins are great stuff. The first few nations to emerge strong benefited not just from Star Ring City’s support but also excavated quite a bit of the Divine Race’s ruins."
Tilo immediately understood.
"Is that so? Why haven’t I come across such luck or found anything like that?"
Su Mo smiled bitterly and said.
"These things are purely chance encounters."
Tilo raised his head and returned with a smile.
"Hmm, let’s not think about these things anymore."
Su Mo slightly nodded and said.
...
At the edge of the Red Mountain Range, Lan Xi and the others spread out and searched around.
They had been searching for days, and hadn’t even seen a weed, let alone the Magic Moon Flower, only endless silence.
Lan Xi was already so tired that she could barely stand.
"Dr. Lan Xi, take a break,"
Hai Mo said in a deep voice upon seeing her.
"No, I can still manage,"
Lan Xi shook her head. Her tone was filled with weariness, yet she was very determined.
Hai Mo remained silent for a few seconds before trying to persuade Lan Xi.
"Why don’t we go back and meet up with the others? Maybe they’ve found something."
"Alright."
Lan Xi hesitated for a moment but eventually agreed.
Seeing this, Hai Mo then squatted down with the mecha, opened the cockpit, and Lan Xi climbed up.
Once Lan Xi got on, Hai Mo maneuvered the mecha and slowly headed towards the junction.
Lan Xi crouched beside the driver’s seat, her head leaning against the chair, and she soon fell asleep.
Hai Mo glanced at the sleeping Lan Xi and slowed down even more.
When Lan Xi woke up, they were already at the junction, and everyone had returned.
Lan Xi immediately hurried to ask, "Did you find anything?"
"No, absolutely nothing, not a single trace,"
Fendi shook her head and replied, somewhat disappointed.
"We didn’t find anything either."
The rest all sighed in response.
Fendi, concerned, said to Lan Xi, "Lan Xi, could it be that the Magic Moon Flower we found is the only survivor?"
Lan Xi shook her head and replied with certainty, "No, if we can find one, we can definitely find more."
"Since Dr. Lan Xi is so sure, let’s stay here a bit longer and search thoroughly. Even if we have to overturn the entire area, we must find it."
Wolf said supportively, as no one hoped for Lan Xi’s success more than he did.
It should be understood that the reason several of them wore collars was due to the high negative energy pollution in their bodies, with the constant risk of falling and mutation.
"Lan Xi, I know you’re eager to find more Magic Moon Flowers, but be prepared for disappointment. Although the mecha is disrupted from conducting large-scale scans, we’ve observed from the sky, and these continuous mountains are almost barren. Finding one is already a miracle."
Hai Mo said, somewhat pessimistically.
Lan Xi grew more silent listening to Hai Mo’s words.
Fendi sighed; she really wanted to comfort Lan Xi, but reality was harsh and cruel, and Hai Mo wasn’t entirely wrong.
However, Lan Xi then raised her head and resolutely declared.
"I won’t give up. If we can’t find anything nearby, we’ll search ahead. I believe we can find them. If we find a few, we can take them back and attempt to cultivate them ourselves."
"Alright!"
Fendi and others were inspired and said.
"Without delay, let’s go."
Lan Xi said with enthusiasm.
"Okay!"
Hai Mo and the others were deeply infected by Lan Xi’s persistence and energy.
So they set off again, beginning to explore along the edges of the mountains.
Time gradually passed.
As Lan Xi and the team climbed to a mountaintop, they came across a massive canyon spanning the mountain range, extremely deep, with gray mist at the bottom, impossible to see the end with the naked eye.
Gusty winds wreaked havoc within the canyon.
Lan Xi was unstable on her feet now, with Hymer maneuvering the mecha to stand before Lan Xi and said.
"Dr. Lan Xi, don’t get too close to the canyon; I took a glance just now, and it’s super deep, who knows what monster might be hidden inside."
"Okay,"
Lan Xi replied, catching her breath and nodding.
"Perhaps we should leave here and continue exploring ahead."
Fendi also felt it unsafe here, especially when looking toward the canyon, which seemed like a monstrous beast’s gaping maw.
"Wait!"
Suddenly, Lan Xi became tense, continuously gazing at the canyon and the distant peaks.
While the others were puzzled, Lan Xi quickly searched herself, pulling out a sheet of imprinted paper.
She hurriedly opened it, revealing a rough map.
Lan Xi continuously matched the blurry images on the map with the view before them.
Her somewhat pale face showed a hint of excitement as she said, "The terrain here resembles the one on this map I made from the Divine Race’s site; maybe this is where we need to be looking."
Fendi and the others gathered around, carefully studying it, and it did seem quite similar.
"It really does look a bit alike."
"Is it possible we haven’t found the Magic Moon Flower because it’s not on the surface but inside the canyon?"
Lan Xi exclaimed excitedly.
"That’s too risky. The canyons on Ceres aren’t to be ventured into lightly; nobody can guarantee what lurks within. And you saw just how strong the winds rage inside; it’s impossible for plants to survive."
Hai Mo retorted.
"I want to try. I know the risks, but if we miss this opportunity due to fear of danger, I’d regret it forever. Many of our comrades suffer because of negative energy. If we can’t solve this pollution, not only will our comrades suffer, but even our own deaths will be inevitable."
Lan Xi spoke with strong determination, her gaze unwavering. Through prolonged research on negative energy, she had attained a clear understanding that.
Though most polluted individuals appear stable, it’s only due to genetic potions and their strength suppressing the pollution; it doesn’t mean they’re unaffected.
Negative energy pollution remains like a lurking disease, ready to erupt like a volcano someday. Hence, mutation is an eventuality, regardless of who.
"Alright then, I’ll personally accompany you down."
Hai Mo was eventually persuaded by Lan Xi.
"We’re going down with you."
Wolf and Luo Qi chimed in together.
"Given the situation, we too will assist in the exploration."
Fendi and the others all expressed their intent.
"Thank you all,"
Lan Xi bowed and saluted Hai Mo and the others.
"No, we should thank you, for you give us hope. Forgive me for saying it, but during all these years on Ceres, I’ve witnessed too many comrades perish from this pollution, and that feeling of despair is an unshakable nightmare."
Hai Mo paused for a few seconds before slowly speaking.
